Early Life
Ajay Singh was born on 19 October 1956, Ludhiana, Punjab, India. He is the elder son of Bollywood legendary actor Dharam Singh Deol (Dharmendra) and his mother Parkash Kaur was a Punjabi singer. Bollywood dream girl actress Hema Malini is the step-mother of Sunny Deol. From mother, Parkash Kaur, Sunny has a younger brother, Bobby Deol (Actor) and two younger sisters, Vijeta Deol and Ajeita Deol. And from step-mother, Hema Malini, he has two younger half-sisters: Esha Deol (Actress) and Ahana Deol. Bollywood actor Abhay Deol is the son of Dharmendra’s brother Ajit Deol.
The actor completed his schooling from Sacred Heart Boys High School in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Later, he admitted to Ramniranjan Anandilal Podar College in Mumbai and completed a Commerce and Economics degree.

After completing his graduation, in 1983, he made his Bollywood debut as a lead hero with director Rahul Rawail’s box office successful romantic film ‘Betaab’, opposite another beautiful debutante actress Amrita Singh. Manzil Manzil (1984), Saveray Wali Gaadi (1986), Sultanat (1986), Dacait (1987), Yateem (1988), Ghayal(1990), Veerta (1993), Imtihaan (1994) and Salaakhen (1998) was the most successful films of his. Those films make him one of the popular actor of 90s.
‘Ghayal (1990)’ his the highest grossing film of the year of 1990. That film collects ₹19 crore (INR) at the box office from the budget of only ₹1.75 crore (INR). That film gave him a huge breakthrough and won National Film Award – Special Jury Award and Filmfare Award for Best Actor for that film. The 1993s film ‘Damini (1993)’ also was one of the best success at Box office and he won ‘National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor’ and Filmfare Award for ‘Best Supporting Actor’.
Deol made his directional and productional debut in 1993 with ‘Dillagi’ film which he starred alongside with his younger brother Bobby Deol under ‘Vijayta Films’ production banner. This production house mainly established his father Dharmendra Deol in 1983. Sunny also launch his own production house ‘Sunny Sounds Pvt. Ltd’ which is a sister concern of ‘Vijayta Films’. For his hard work and macho personality, Sunny Deol is considered among the most popular and high-profile celebrities in India.
Personal Life
In 1984, Sunny Deol got married scriptwriter, Pooja Deol (Lynda Deol). The couple has two sons, Karan Deol, and Rajveer Deol. Karan worked as an assistant director on Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (2013). Karan Deol soon making his Bollywood debut with the upcoming romantic film ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (2018)‘. This film will be directed and produced by his father Sunny Deol under his own production house ‘Sunny Sounds’.
