Bollywood Box Office 2020

Bollywood is one of the biggest film industries in the world cinema. Every year more than 100 films released in Bollywood. A film will be considered as a hit when the distributor recovers the investments. Suppose a producer invested ₹20 crores to make a film. Then either the producer sells the film to a distributor or shares the profit. Nowadays, the trend is to sell the movie to distributors. Movies with good star cast sold at a good price. Usually, producers don’t get a share of profit or loss in such a scenario. Though the producer is always a winner.

After that, distributors bought the film right by paying ₹35 crores. And then invest another ₹15 crores on its promotion. So the cost is now ₹50 crores. Now, these distributors ‘distribute’ the film to regional distributors who, next, distribute it to theatres. Now the distributor had to share his profit after reduction of taxes with these regional distributors and theatre owners.

For the distributor to recover his ₹50 crores, the film should collect approx. ₹80 crores. If it recovers the amount or anything above this, this will be considered a hit then superhit then blockbuster. That means distributors win or loss equal to film verdict.
