Who Is Saif Ali Khan?
Sajid Ali Khan Pataudi aka Saif Ali Khan is a well-known film actor, TV host, and film producer who predominantly appears in Hindi films. He is one of the highest-paid actors in Bollywood and considered among the most popular and high-profile celebrities in India. Saif also called by some nickname like Saifu, Chote Nawab, Nawab of Pataudi.
The Chote Nawab made his acting debut in Yash Chopra’s drama film ‘Parampara (1993)’. He becomes notable after playing an important character in ‘Yeh Dillagi (1994)’ and Main ‘Khiladi Tu Anari (1994)’. Saif becomes so much popular after playing roles in Farhan Akhtar directed comedy-drama film ‘Dil Chahta Hai (2001)’ (co-starring Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Preity Zinta) and Nikkhil Advani directed ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003)’ (co-starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta).
Khan was born on 16 August 1970 in New Delhi, India to the former captain of the Indian national cricket team Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and veteran actress Sharmila Tagore. He is the only son of the Pataudi family. He has two younger sisters, Saba Ali Khan, and Soha Ali Khan Khemu. Soha (40) married to actor Kunal Khemu (35) who is almost four years younger than her.
Khan completed his schooling from The Lawrence School, Sanawar in Himachal Pradesh and was later sent to Lockers Park School in Hertfordshire, England at the age of nine. Later he completed his graduation from the Winchester College, United Kingdom. After graduation, Khan returned to India and worked for an advertising firm in Delhi for two months. His first appearance in a television commercial for ‘Gwalior Suiting’ make him pursue his career in acting. The project later canceled but Khan relocated to Mumbai to pursue his career in Bollywood films.
Debut & Struggle
Khan was about to debut his career with the male lead in Rahul Rawail’s romantic drama ‘Bekhudi (1992)’ alongside debutante Kajol, but after completing the first shooting schedule, director Rawail replaced him with Kamal Sadanah.
The Chote Nawab made his acting debut in Yash Chopra’s drama film ‘Parampara (1993)’. He becomes notable after playing an important character in ‘Yeh Dillagi (1994)’ and ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994)’. Khan is not able to give too many successful films in the ’90s. From 1999, his career turned to success. In 1999, he appeared in four films: Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan, Kachche Dhaage, Aarzoo, and Hum Saath-Saath Hain. After Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), ‘Kachche Dhaage’ and ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’ can able to collect huge at the box office. ‘Kachche Dhaage’ collects almost ₹30 crore at the box office from the budget of ₹10 crore And ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’ collects almost ₹80 crore at the box office from the budget of ₹20 crore that time.
Saif becomes so much popular after playing supporting roles in commercial successful films like: Farhan Akhtar directed comedy-drama film ‘Dil Chahta Hai (2001)’ (co-starring Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Preity Zinta) and Nikkhil Advani directed ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003)’ (co-starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta). Production & Later Success
In the year 2007, Khan becomes a film producer and launched his production company name ‘Illuminati Films’ along with filmmaker Dinesh Vijan. He produced commercially successful films like Love Aaj Kal (2009), Agent Vinod (2012), Cocktail (2012), Go Goa Gone (2013) etc. In 2008, Khan received huge fame after playing the lead role in the Abbas-Mustan’s thriller film ‘Race’ with a multi-starrer cast including Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy. That film was one of the biggest successful films that year. It collects more than ₹100 core from the budget of approximate ₹45 crore. The second sequel titled ‘Race 2 (2013)’ also get equal success at the box office.
Saif Ali Khan appeared in more than 70 films and his career spanning 3 decades. He gifted us and the Bollywood industry too many good and successful films.
While shooting for Bekhudi (1991), Khan met actress Amrita Singh and fell in love. Later he married in October 1991. Amrita (61) is almost 12 years older than Saif (48). Together they have a daughter, Sara Ali Khan (Born: September 1993) and a son Ibrahim Ali Khan (Born: October 2001). The couple later separated in 2004.
On 16 October 2012, Khan married actress Kareena Kapoor (38) who is almost 11 years younger than him. On 20 December 2016, Kapoor gave birth to her son, Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Taimur Ali Khan is one of the cutest star kids in Bollywood industry.
