Who Is Yami Gautam?
Yami Gautam is an Indian model and actress who predominantly work in Hindi language films. But the actress also appeared in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Punjabi language films. She is also considered one of the most beautiful and top actresses in Bollywood film industry.
Gautam made her acting debut with a Kannada film ‘Ullasa Utsaha’ in 2009. And then she did a Punjabi film ‘Ek Noor’ in 2011. Finally, she made her Bollywood debut with actor John Abraham produced first film ‘Vicky Donor’ opposite another debutante actor Ayushmann Khurrana in 2012.
Early Life
Yami was born on 28 November 1988 in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, India. After her grandfather opened a school for the underprivileged in Chandigarh, her family moved to Chandigarh. Punjabi film director and businessman Mukesh Gautam is her father and her mother name is Anjali Gautam. She has a younger sister, Surilie Gautam, who is a TV serial actress and made her big screen debut with the Punjabi film ‘Power Cut’ in 2012. She married Jasraj Singh Bhatti, son of Late Indian actor and comedian Jaspal Bhatti in Nov 2013. Yami also has a younger brother, Ojas Gautam.
The actress completed her regular schooling from Chandigarh. Later, she admitted to Punjab University in Chandigarh and completed a graduate degree in law honors.
Debut & Succes Story
From a very young age, Gautam wanted to be an Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer, but at the age of 20, Yami decided to switch her dream to an acting career and move to Mumbai to try her luck in films.
She made her television debut with ‘Chand Ke Paar Chalo’ in 2008. Later, she played her most notable role in Colors ‘Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam’. Gautam made her big screen debut with a Kannada film ‘Ullasa Utsaha’ in 2009. And then she did a Punjabi film ‘Ek Noor’ in 2011. Finally, she made her Bollywood debut with actor John Abraham produced first film ‘Vicky Donor’ opposite another debutante actor Ayushmann Khurrana in 2012. Vicky Donor collected more than ₹40 crores at the box office from the budget of ₹10 crores.
She got too many good reviews from the audience and the critics for her tremendous acting skill in the film. For that film, she nominated in many award shows in many categories and earned several awards also.
Later she made her Malayalam debut with 2012’s action comedy film ‘Hero’ opposite Malayalam superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran and Tamil debut with a drama film ‘Gouravam’. After that, Yami appeared in films like Action Jackson (2014), Badlapur (2015), Sanam Re (2016), Junooniyat (2016), Kaabil (2017), Sarkar 3 (2017), Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018) and more. She gains huge fame after appearing opposite Hrithik Roshan in ‘Kaabil (2017)’. ‘Kaabil’ collected more than ₹150 crores at the box office from the estimated budget of only ₹40 crores and become one of the highest grosser of 2017.
Personal Life
After doing a film ‘Sanam Re’ in 2016, there were rumors that Yami is in a relationship with her co-actor Pulkit Samrat. At the same year, the couple has done another romantic film together was ‘Junooniyat’.
