Rajkumar Yadav aka Rajkummar Rao is an Indian model and actor. He is mainly known for his tremendous work in the Bollywood film industry. Rao’s family and close friends call him ‘Raj‘.

In 2010, he first appeared in Amitabh Bachchan and Ritesh Deshmukh starrer Ram Gopal Varma’s political thriller film ‘Rann’, where he played a very small ‘News Reader‘ character. In the same year, the Actor debuted his Bollywood career with Director Dibakar Banerjee’s ‘Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010)’ and played the Adarsh (lead) character in that film. This film got success at the box office. After that, he starred Ekta Kapoor produced horror film ‘Ragini MMS’ in 2011.

Early Life

Rajkumar was born on 31 August 1984, Gurgaon, Haryana, India. He was born to a middle-class joint family in Haryana. His father is a retired tax collector in Haryana revenue department and mother was a housewife. His mother died on March 10, 2016.

The actor completed his schooling from S.N. Sidheshwar Sr. Sec. Public School in Gurgaon. Later, he admitted to Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College in Delhi and completed a bachelor of Arts degree. This college is a co-educational constituent college of the University of Delhi.

From a very young age, Rao interested in acting. When Rao was studied, he simultaneously doing theatre with Shri Ram Centre (SRC) in Delhi for two years and he is one of the permanent members of this theatre. Later, he worked with veteran theatre director Bharti Sharma in Shedej Remitry, Delhi. At the meantime (2006), Raj completed his bachelor of Arts degree and admitted to Film and Television Institute of India in Pune, India. In 2008, Rajkummar graduated from the institute and shifted to Mumbai to build a successful film career.

After completing his filmy course, he shifted to Mumbai for a film career. Rao spent years visiting studios and meeting casting directors. In 2010, he first appeared in Amitabh Bachchan and Ritesh Deshmukh starrer Ram Gopal Varma’s political thriller film ‘Rann‘, where he played a very small ‘News Reader‘ character. In the same year, the Actor debuted his Bollywood career with Director Dibakar Banerjee’s ‘Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010)’ and played the Adarsh (lead) character in that film. This film got success at the box office. After that, he starred Ekta Kapoor produced horror film ‘Ragini MMS’ in 2011. That film was a huge success at the box office and collects ₹9 crore (INR) from the budget of only ₹1.3 crore (INR).

After a few brief roles in a couple of films, he finally got his breakthrough role in director Abhishek Kapoor’s sports-drama film ‘Kai Po Che! (2013)‘, co-starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Amit Sadh. This film was taken positive critics reviews and got a huge success at the box office. Raj received so many positive reviews from audiences and nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male). “Kai Po Che!” was the biggest breakthrough in Rajkumar Rao’s career.

His portrayal character of Shahid Azmi in the critically acclaimed biographical drama ‘Shahid (2013)’ gained him good reviews. For this character, he was awarded the National Film Award for Best Actor and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor. After that, he doesn’t have to look back.
